Burton/Wilcox Ferrari sets the early pace at Rockingham
The VRS Equipment Finance Ferrari 430 of Adam Wilcox and Phil Burton topped the timesheets today at Rockingham in final testing ahead of the weekend's fifth and sixth rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.
The Wilcox/Burton Ferrari lapped the Northants speedway in a time of 1m 22.416s in the morning test session - half a second off Allan Simonsen's lap record, which was set in 2007. The championship leaders, Aaron Scott and Craig Wilkins, ran them closest, posting a best lap of 1m 22.788s in their ABG Viper in the afternoon session.
The RPM Ford GT of Michael Bentwood and Philip Walker successfully completed the tests, winding up fourth quickest, but the MTECH Ferrari of Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin was unable to take to the track due to technical problems.
Quickest of the GT4 runners, by more than half a second, was the Ginetta of class points leaders Nigel Moore and Jody Firth.
