2024: Cavers and Plato step up with Century and BMW

+ GT4 contenders make senior class move

GT4 Pro-Am frontrunners Carl Cavers and Lewis Plato are graduating to the Intelligent Money British GT3 ranks this year with Century and BMW.

The same duo were part of GT4’s six-crew overall title showdown at Donington in October before ultimately finishing sixth overall and third in Pro-Am – exploits that also helped Century clinch the teams’ championship.

They’re now armed with a GT3 spec M4 – the same model that took Darren Leung and Dan Harper to 2023’s drivers’ crown with Century.

The duo – who will contest GT3’s Silver-Am class – raced their new M4 GT3 in Kuwait last December. And the same eye-catching livery, which highlights the charity work of Solving Kids’ Cancer, now heads to British GT where Plato will make his first senior class appearance since 2015.

“I am delighted to be returning to British GT in 2024,” he said. “Carl and I enjoyed a tremendous season last year and now feel ready to mix it with the cream of GT3’s crop. The class is very different to when I raced a Mercedes SLS AMG there almost a decade ago, which sounds a bit surreal to be honest! Our initial focus is on Silver-Am – the class was very competitive last year and we expect it to be again.”

Cavers, meanwhile, is looking forward to stepping up for the first time after racing in Ferrari Challenge and Porsche Sprint Cup prior to his GT4 switch last year.

“After an absolutely great first year in British GT with Century Motorsport it seemed like we’d be delaying the inevitable if we didn’t jump up to the BMW M4 GT3 in 2024,” he said. “I’m absolutely over the moon to be back on the Intelligent Money British GT3 grid, and once again joined by my great friend and stella racing driver, Lewis. With Century’s support we’re looking forward to doing a lot more than making up the numbers.”

Further Century entries – both GT3 and GT4 – will be revealed before the championship’s media day takes place at Donington on March 12.
