Harry George and Luca Hopkinson will extend their British GT4 partnership into a second season after switching to reigning champions Optimum Motorsport.
Their move from RAM Racing also sees the Anglo-American duo swap their Mercedes-AMG for a McLaren.
They finished seventh in the overall standings and fourth of the Silver crews in what was Hopkinson’s first season of British GT after spending two years racing Ginetta Juniors.
George, meanwhile, embarks on a third GT4 campaign after also racing the Mercedes-AMG in 2023 with Enduro Motorsport.
The duo saved 2024’s best result for the Brands Hatch finale where they finished fourth overall. That, along with Optimum and the Artura’s recent championship-winning pedigree, has given Hopkinson a lot of confidence ahead of the new season.
“I’m super excited to get to work with Optimum this year as I head into my second year in GT racing,” said the 18-year-old. “I’m looking forward to carrying the momentum from the end of last year into 2025 with a good team and team-mate around me. We’ll give it our best shot!”
George, who finished second at Portimao in 2023, added: “This is my third year in British GT now, the first year we had some difficulties and last year was much improved with more regular podiums. With Luca now in his second year, and in a car I know well and a front running team, I’m optimistic we can run at the front of the grid this year. Can’t wait to get going!”
British GT’s media day takes place at Silverstone on March 21. Fans can attend for free but must reserve their ticket in advance at silverstone.co.uk/events/british-gt-championship.
The seven-event, nine-race season itself begins three weeks later at Donington Park (April 5/6).
