Topham deputises for Orange at Donington

Matt Topham will replace Simon Orange in the Orange Racing by JMH McLaren at British GT’s #DoningtonDecider next weekend.

Business commitments in Asia prevent team owner Orange from contesting the two-hour season finale alongside his regular co-driver Marcus Clutton.

Instead, Topham will be making his fourth start for as many different teams this year after first deputising for Barwell’s Rob Collard at Oulton Park before joining the Silverstone 500 aboard a Steller Audi. He then also raced Optimum’s 720S at Spa.

And it won’t be his first start alongside Clutton, either: the pair made a one-off appearance together with Enduro Motorsport at Snetterton two years ago.

“It’s great to be joining Orange Racing by JMH for the Donington Decider in British GT,” said Topham. “When the opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t wait to get back in the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, especially with Marcus, who I have a great relationship with. I’ve been following the team’s progress this year and they seem to have a really strong package, so I’m looking forward to having a successful weekend with them.”

Orange added: “I’m gutted to be missing the final round, but a business commitment has forced me to step aside. It’s great we have been able to get Matt into the car, and I wish him and the team the best of luck. I will be keeping an eye on the timesheets from overseas and will be back in the car in 2026 for what I hope will be a shot at the title.”

British GT’s championship showdown is live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and Sky Sports F1 from 13:15 next Sunday.
