Orange and Grange set the pace across opening Oulton Park practice

Orange Racing by JMH and Grange Racing with FSR emerged at the top of the classes in the opening Free Practice session at Oulton Park, with Marcus Clutton and Darren Turner topping GT3 and GT4 respectively.

With the sun emerging rising track temperatures across the hour meant the best times were set early in the session, with both Clutton and Turner putting their fastest efforts in on their fourth tours.

Clutton’s 1:32.502s benchmark stood for the entire session after that, with Hugo Cook coming closest to toppling him, falling 0.3s shy in the #63 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan he shares with Rob Collard. Ben Barnicoat went for a late run in the #3 Optimum McLaren, but couldn’t move himself and team-mate Morgan Tillbrook higher than third.

Jarrod Waberski and Alex Martin were fourth fastest thanks to a late flier from the South African putting the #78 Barwell Lamborghini. That effort also put the pair top in Silver-Am, displacing Century’s BMW of Jonathon Beeson and Charles Clark. Kevin Tse and Ben Green rounded out the top six in the #18 2 Seas Mercedes-AMG.

Turner also proved unshakable in GT4, with the veteran factory driver’s 1:41.517s effort putting he and Grange Racing team-mate Daniel Lavery on top. Jack Mitchell and Luke Shaw were second in the Toro Verde GT Ginetta G56, ahead of the team’s Porsche entry shared by Ian Duggan and Tom Bradshaw. Silverstone winners Thomas Holland and Hadley Simpson were fourth and top in the Silver order.

MK Racing (Will Orton/Jessica Hawkins) and Optimum Motorsport (Luca Hopkinson/Josh Stanton) completed the top six.

Pre-Qualifying is at 12:00.
