+ Result: Pre-Qualifying, Donington Park
Chris Lulham continued his impressive start to life in British GT by helping 2 Seas’ Mercedes-AMG to the top of Pre-Qualifying, while Jordan Collard made it a clean sweep for new entries this weekend by leading GT4 in GBR Stratton’s Aston Martin.
Lulham timed his run to the top just right to emerge ahead of a tight session where the benchmark repeatedly shifted. Ben Barnicoat repeated his trick of going fastest early on for Optimum before Marcus Clutton (Orange Racing McLaren), Callum Macleod (Optimum McLaren) and Jarrod Waberski (Barwell Lamborghini) all took a turn out front.
Lulham strapped in and waited until his penultimate lap to make the difference, pulling an initial 0.2s clear. While Hugo Cook managed to improve late on to leapfrog the sister Huracan to snatch second for himself and Rob Collard, he fell 0.048s shy of Lulham’s time.
Waberski and Alex Martin were third ahead of practice pace-setters Charles Clark and Jonathon Beeson in the Century BMW. Barnicoat and Tillbrook were fifth ahead of Clutton and Simon Orange.
Jordan Collard made it two new drivers leading the times with his final flier proving enough to put he and GBR Stratton team-mate John Hartshorne top in GT4.
Collard set the early pace before Thomas Holland and Darren Turner both improved aboard the #74 Innovation Ginetta and Grange Racing Aston Martin. Luke Shaw then shaved a few extra tenths off the benchmark before handing to Jack Mitchell, who proceeded to further improve and appear to settle the result in favour of the Toro Verde Ginetta. However, Collard went for one final effort and found the extra 0.024s that would prove vital.
Mitchell’s time stood for second while Colin Turkington elevated WSR’s BMW to third overall. Holland and Hadley Simpson were fourth and fastest of the Silvers, ahead of Turner and Daniel Lavery and Revie Lake and Blake Angliss in the Paddock McLaren.
Qualifying is set for 15:45.
