Oulton Park FP1: Macleod and Toth-Jones fastest in opening session

> RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG and Academy Motorsport Aston Martin make the early running

> Result: FP1

RAM Racing’s Callum Macleod set the pace in British GT’s first practice session of the season at Oulton Park this morning, while Academy Motorsport’s Alex Toth-Jones was fastest of the 21-strong GT4 contingent.

The top-two were set early on when Macleod – the GT3 lap record holder at Oulton Park – posted a 1m34.197s lap. That was half-a-second under his race benchmark from two years ago and 0.1s clear of TF Sport’s Nicki Thiim, who topped yesterday’s pre-season testing.

Adam Christodoulou popped Team ABBA Racing’s Mercedes-AMG into third with 10 of the 60 minutes remaining to push Jonny Cocker’s Barwell Lamborghini down to fourth. The team’s second Huracan GT3 Evo driven by Phil Keen and Century’s #3 BMW of Jack Mitchell completed the top-six.

Seb Morris’ JRM Bentley and Jonny Adam’s TF Sport Aston Martin were 0.027s and 0.029s further back.

Toth-Jones also set GT4’s fastest time in the first 30 minutes before co-driver Will Moore completed the session. Only 0.250s covered a top-seven featuring six different manufacturers.

Scott Malvern was the leading Pro/Am contender in second, the Team Parker Racing Mercedes-AMG lapping 0.069s shy of Toth-Jones’ 1m43.911s.

Century’s #43 BMW was third in the hands of Angus Fender and Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke, while the Invictus Games Racing Jaguar driven by Matthew George finishing an encouraging fourth.

The first of the McLarens was next up courtesy of HHC Motorsport, the #57 entry finishing ahead of TF Sport’s #97 Aston Martin and Multimatic’s #15 Ford Mustang.
