Barwell Motorsport will run a third new-generation Lamborghini Huracan GT3 at selected rounds of this year’s British GT Championship, the squad has announced.
The reigning teams’ champions had already confirmed their switch to the Italian marque prior to defending the crown and have now added a further entry at the blue riband, three-hour Silverstone 500 and Spa-Francorchamps rounds.
Mark Poole returns to the series as the car’s designated Am after a season away from racing. His and Barwell’s British GT relationship stretches back to 2013 when the Surrey-based squad ran an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 for Poole and Richard Abra.
And although Poole, Abra and soon-to-be domestic rival Joe Osborne are set to join forces for this year’s Blancpain Endurance Series, the team is yet to reveal who will complete its British GT line-up.
In the team's two full-season Huracans Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen return for a second year at Barwell, while Liam Griffin switches across from Oman Racing to partner Fabio Babini and Alexander Sims.
This season’s British GT Championship kicks off at Brands Hatch on April 16/17.

This June’s Silverstone 500 will be the first time in eight seasons that three Lamborghinis have contested the same British GT round. It last happened at the same venue on 17 August 2008. The record for most Lamborghinis to start a single race was also set that year when Tech 9 and Team Modena each ran a pair of Gallardo GT3s at Rockingham and Snetterton.
