Tom Gamble will join Jack Mitchell in Century Motorsport’s #9 BMW M6 GT3 at Snetterton this weekend after regular co-driver Adrian Willmott was forced to withdraw through injury.
Willmott’s neck injury, which will prevent him from racing for the foreseeable future, sees the entry switch from Pro/Am to Silver Cup. That late classification change also means the car will carry 60kg of additional ballast.
Former Ginetta Junior champion Gamble makes his British GT debut with Century after finishing fifth in 2018’s BRDC British F3 Championship. However, it won’t be the 17-year-old’s first domestic appearance in GT3 machinery: he raced a WRT-run Audi R8 in the recent Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe round at Brands Hatch.
‘Unfortunately Adrian is unable to compete this weekend or for the foreseeable future after sustaining a neck injury,” said Century team principal Nathan Freke. “He and the team are hugely disappointed but collectively we’ve been working hard to fill the seat and ensure Jack [Mitchell] is able to compete at Snetterton. Tom looks like the ideal candidate.”
Tom isn’t the first Gamble to race for Century in British GT. His brother George also made a one-off outing, albeit in the GT4 class, at Rockingham in 2017.
Watch both of this Sunday’s British GT races live on the championship’s website and social media platforms, as well as SRO’s GT World Youtube channel.
