Sparco joins Intelligent Money British GT Championship as Official Racewear Supplier

One of the world’s best known motorsport industry manufacturers, Sparco, becomes the Intelligent Money British GT Championship’s Official Racewear Supplier this year.

The Italian company is trusted globally by more than 300 partner teams competing across a wide variety of disciplines, including Formula 1, IndyCar, NASCAR and Dakar.

It was originally established in 1977 to advance the cause of motorsport safety through technological innovation. Since 2000 The Sparco Group has harnessed that experience to diversify its range of activities, which now include the manufacturing of carbon fibre components on behalf of supercar and luxury automakers, sim racing hardware, and products for the safety clothing industry (footwear and workwear).

The instantly recognisable blue and white branding will appear trackside at all seven of this year’s British GT events, championship staff will be supplied with Sparco-made uniform, and a paddock-based service centre will provide teams and drivers with a range of essential racewear items.

The latter is managed by HypeX Racewear whose team of experts can customise Sparco’s products to a driver’s exacting standards. The company was founded in 2020 by Keith Wood, a successful motorsport graphic designer with a wealth of experience in custom racewear, and former British GT champion and professional racing driver Bradley Ellis. In a short space of time HypeX has established itself as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of customised racewear, gloves and boots.

Sparco’s wider UK distribution is overseen by its long-standing and trusted partner, Demon Tweeks. The market leader for supply of professional motorsport equipment celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Niccolò Bellazzini, Sparco Brand Manager: “I am personally very honoured and happy to see Sparco become the Official Racewear Supplier of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship, which has been an intrinsic and fundamental part of the UK’s national motorsport scene for more than 28 years.

“The competition is of great relevance and is also the perfect depiction of the passion that the British have always had for racing. The championship represents the British tradition illustrating the passion for motorsport, which is why Sparco wanted to be a part of it, sharing its heritage and values.”

Keith Wood, HypeX Racewear: “With more than two decades of motorsport industry experience, working with and using the inventory from the majority of racewear manufacturers, we know there is a clear market leader within the Sparco range of products.

“Teams, drivers and managers need more than good quality products. We understand the process of a custom-made race garment and how vital the after-sales process is. Therefore, our goal is to not only deliver premium Sparco products with timeless designs but to also back it up with an elite customer experience. We've invested heavily to provide support at every British GT race weekend and welcome teams and drivers to our racing service unit to showcase the Sparco products, our design process and provide race kit.”

Lauren Granville, Intelligent Money British GT Championship Manager: “Sparco is synonymous with motorsport around the world and its products are second to none so it says much for British GT’s standing that Sparco’s reputation will now be officially associated with the championship. Many of our drivers already use HypeX Racewear’s instantly recognisable products and Demon Tweeks has enjoyed a regular presence in our paddock through drivers like Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen for almost a decade.”

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship’s 2021 campaign kicks off at Brands Hatch this weekend (May 22/23).
