Charles Clark and Jonathon Beeson put Century Motorsport’s BMW M4 top of the opening times at Donington Park, while Revie Lake and Blake Angliss led the way in GT4 for Paddock Motorsport.
Jarrod Waberski was first out in the title-chasing Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini but his best was soon beaten by both Marcus Clutton’s Orange Racing McLaren and then Ben Barnicoat’s Optimum car.
After the opening flurry, things settled down as others chased Barnicoat’s benchmark, and Clark was the one to break it, not once, but twice. After hitting the top of the times inside the final quarter of the session, Clark then improved again to pull 0.6s clear.
Hugo Cook elevated himself and Rob Collard to second in the #63 Barwell Huracan ahead of points leaders Barnicoat and Morgan Tillbrook. Joshua Buchan and Cameron Campbell were fourth in the Rodin Ferrari – making it four different brands inside the top four – even if the 296 ended the session in the Old Hairpin gravel inside the final minute.
Callum Macleod and Mike Price were a solid fifth for Optimum ahead of Simon Orange/Clutton and Waberksi/Alex Martin.
Revie Lake and Blake Angliss continued their strong form from pre-event testing by going fastest of all in GT4. Tom Bradshaw was quickest out of the blocks in the Toro Verde Porsche before Jack Mitchell usurped him in the team’s Ginetta. Behind them Lake was getting quicker and quicker, eventually snatching top spot by just 0.007s.
Mitchell and Luke Shaw held on to the top Pro-Am time in second with Bradshaw and Ian Duggan third. Colin Turkington and Ernie Graham’s WSR BMW was fourth ahead of Daniel Lavery and Darren Turner in Grange Racing’s Aston Martin. British GT newcomers James Wareing and Samuel Branston rounded out the top six in their Innovation Racing Ginetta.
