+ Result: Pre-Qualifying, Brands Hatch
Ben Barnicoat and Blake Angliss continued to lead the way in Pre-Qualifying at Brands Hatch, with the McLarens from Optimum and Paddock holding the early advantage.
With the GP loop evolving and teams bedding the cars in the second session of the day proved half-a-second quicker than Free Practice, but despite the change in tempo the same two cars and drivers proved the stars.
Jarrod Waberski again set the first meaningful time in Barwell’s #78 Lamborghini before Barnicoat and Hugo Cook aboard the #63 Huracan all improved. Barnicoat then pulled a huge 0.8s over everybody before pitting for Morgan Tillbrook to take over.
Chris Lulham did the best job of chasing the #77 McLaren down, getting to within 0.1s in the 2 Seas Mercedes-AMG he shares with Kevin Tse. Cook and Rob Collard were third ahead of Simon Orange and Marcus Clutton’s Orange Racing McLaren. British GT newcomer Todd Kingsford and Aaron Waler brought 2 Seas’ second AMG into fifth ahead of Waberski and Alex Martin.
GT4 also followed a similar theme, this time with Revie Lake leading the initial times aboard Paddock’s #84 McLaren Artura. Again, Jack Mitchell proved to be the team’s early rival in the Toro Verde Ginetta before Angliss took over and rammed home the advantage.
Darren Turner and Dan Lavery ate into Angliss’ advantage to bring to Grange Racing Aston Martin up to second, with Turner falling 0.1s shy. Colin Turkington and Ernie Graham’s WSR BMW was third ahead of the Mitchell and Luke Shaw Ginetta. Ian Duggan and Tom Bradshaw kept their Toro Verde Porsche in fifth ahead of Josh Stanton and George Gamble’s Optimum McLaren.
