eSports: Arnou’s Lambo hits back at Barcelona
Alexandre Arnou claimed back-to-back TORA British GT eSports Championship victories at Barcelona on Sunday to vault himself back into title contention.
The Frenchman bagged a pair of top-10 finishes first time out at Watkins Glen and arrived home in the nick of time to contest round two after being held up on the subway.
Nevertheless, his Huracan started Race 1 from the front row alongside Jacob Bowkett’s Aerox Mercedes, while Gary Mitchell’s Watkins Glen-winning Williams Esports BMW shared the second row with Michael Coyne’s Aston Martin. Qualifying was particularly competitive with just 0.5s covering the top-10.
Bowkett and Arnou briefly tussled for the lead at the start before the Lamborghini broke clear to claim a resounding victory. It was a similar story in Race 2, with the Huracan again leading home the Mercedes.
Behind, Mitchell remained at the top of the standings by adding a podium to his double Watkins Glen victory, while Williams privateer Coyne finished third in Race 2 to also stay in close contention.
Williams Esports also lead the Teams’ Championship ahead of SVR Nostalgia.
Elsewhere, Daniel Southby remains unbeaten in GT4 this season after notching up his third and fourth wins of the campaign at Barcelona. The Japspeed Racing Aston Martin was once again unstoppable after claiming pole position.
However, Kurt von Autenried remains a strong second after again claiming two runner-up finishes with his Aerox Mercedes-AMG. Southby’s JSR team-mate Chris Farkas finished third in both.
Silverstone hosts the championship’s first endurance race on May 12.
